I just wanted to take a minute to look back on the amazing year that was, thank some true peeps and talk some shit.
We originally released WOAS in November 2012. Threw our own release show, sold out of the tapes we made that night and rode high into 2013.
In January, we signed with Nevado Records and met our future big boss Nick Bernal. This guy works incredibly hard and he’s helped us so much in the past year. Without him, the below would not have happened.
Nevado re-released our EP in March, we went on tour for the first time in April across Canada and signed with Park The Van in the US May. Got back and a week later released the Dave Newfeld split-7” with Programm. In June we played the A&C pop-up at NXNE, went on our second tour through the US/Canada, played Sled Island/Tall Tree for the first time, met Ron Jeremy, played in Vegas at a bar owned by DJ Lethal. We won a Soundclash Music Award in July. Played at our 4th POP Montreal in September and our first CMJ in New York/HPX Pop in Halifax in October. Went on tour again in the US/CAN in November and are finishing the year off playing with Two Hours Traffic for their last shows ever. We played around 60 shows this year which we’re really proud of.
We had the opportunities to share the stage with great bands including Yukon Blonde, Zeus, Besnard Lakes, July Talk, Deleted Scenes, Mac Demarco, Absolutely Free, Freak Heat Waves, SUUNS and Oh Mercy.
We wanna thank everyone who worked and helped us get where we are in 2013 including Nick Bernal (and everyone at Nevado), Zach Fischel (and everyone at PTV), Adam Kreeft, Ken Beattie, Marcel Ramagnano, Jamie Rajf, Carly O’Donnell, Matt Meyer, everyone at Sonic Boom, Sharon Levinson (who helped us a ton on our first tour), OAC, Max Hurd (for the sick photos), everyone who housed us, all the promoters who booked us, all the sound guys who dealt with our vocal feedback, our gfs who deal with our absences, our fam and friends.
2014 y’all!! We’re finishing writing and rehearsing our first full length now and we’ll be in the studio very soon. As a band, 2013 was hands down the best year of our existence so far. We’ve had so much support from so many different people and we wouldn’t be doing what we’re doing without you. Thanks to everyone who came out to a show, bought a record, said hi, had a beer with us, listened to our songs on the internet. It means a lot and if 2013 was this good, we can only hope 2014 is going to be as incredible.
Playing our first ever NY shows for CMJ this week. Nervous about flying down there with our gear but really excited to finally show our faces in the Big Apple.
